MORE than 100 joggers helped celebrate the 100th outing of a successful parkrun series.
Since the free parkruns were launched in the fields by Northallerton Leisure Centre in 2015, almost 2,000 people have taken part.
The runs, which take place on Saturday mornings at 9am. are informal and enable novices to improve and experienced runners to strive to beat their personal bests.
Almost 150 runners attended the 100th celebrations, with refreshments provided by Herriot Hospice Homecare along with a specially commissioned ‘Happy 100th parkrun’ cake.
David Earl, development officer for health and wellbeing at Hambleton Council, said: “It was fantastic to see everyone having such a great time.
“The parkrun has been fantastically well supported since day one.”
