A FAMILY-RUN business has raised more than £5,000 as staff pulled out all the stops to help a hospice charity.
Sam Turner & Sons, based in Northallerton, raised the money for Herriot Hospice Homecare, which was its first ever charity of the year in 2016.
They held various events throughout the year, including a skydive which raised £846 and a family fun day which raised £1,254.
Seven members of staff also completed The Great North Run, raising £2,709 in the process.
Charlie Turner, one of the directors at Sam Turner & Sons, said they would continue supporting the charity in 2017
“As a local business we were keen to choose, as our first-ever charity of the year, a local charity with its heart in North Yorkshire," he said.
“My grand-mother received end of life care from Herriot Hospice Homecare so as a family we can also speak personally about the amazing support the charity provided to us.
“We are delighted to have been able to raise so much money for such a worthwhile charity and we would like to thank our staff, customers and members of the community for supporting all our events.”
Alexandra Weighell, Herriot Hospice Homecare’s fundraising manager, said: “Sam Turner & Sons have been long-standing supporters of the charity and have raised a lot of money on our behalf over the years.
“This is a fantastic amount and will make a significant contribution towards the services we provide in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
“We would to thank everyone at Sam Turner & Sons for this money and their ongoing support.”
