A GROUP of young footballers are fully kitted out thanks to a donation from a housing association.

Northallerton Juniors under-14s are the latest beneficiaries of a grant made through the Broadacres Community Development Fund.

The club received £500 to buy bags for each under-14s player but also other training equipment, including hurdles and ladders, which are being used by all players who are part of the Northallerton Juniors club.

Martin Watson, Coach/Manager of the under-14s, said: “Northallerton Juniors prides itself on making football accessible to boys and girls from the age of three and we currently have over 200 children involved at the club.

“Because of fundraising we are one of the cheapest clubs to join, so to receive financial support from Broadacres is very welcome and we would like to thank them for the grant.”

Chris Norlund, Community Involvement Officer at Broadacres, said: “We are pleased to have been able to help Northallerton Juniors buy the equipment it needed for its players.

“The Community Development Fund was set up to assist groups and organisations in areas where we have homes, so this is an excellent example of how we can provide support.

“It is also our own customers who make decisions on awarding grants through the fund.”

HCS Mechanical, from Northallerton, match funded the donation from Broadacres, enabling Northallerton Juniors buy tracksuits for the under-14s.
