THREE fund-raisers put their best feet forward to help boost an appeal for life-saving hospital equipment.

The Friends of the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton are trying to raise £2 million for an MRI scanner

And Judith Masterman from the appeals team, hospital PA Glen Rock and husband Chris helped the appeal along by completing the gruelling Lyke Wake Walk in an impressive 21 hours braving testing conditions.

Blistered feet, sunburn due to the hot weather and going astray occasionally did not deter them during their 42-mile trek across the North York Moors between the villages of Osmotherley and Ravenscar.

Their efforts have raised £800 so far and more money is still coming in.

“It was a really difficult walk and one of the hardest things I have ever done,” said Judith.

“I have never done anything like it before, it was a real challenge, but I am thrilled to have achieved it."

Glen added: “It was a great sense of achievement for me in completing this massive challenge.

“The wonderful scenery and breath taking views spurred me on and we are really lucky to have such beautiful countryside in North Yorkshire.”
