A HIGH street book and stationary firm has presented youngsters from its local school and sixth form college with £100 of vouchers.

WHSmith in Northallerton nominated Northallerton School and Sixth Form College as one of its beneficiaries of the WHSmith Trust Schools Giveaway, allowing children to choose a book and write reviews of their favourite books to be displayed in the store in the town’s High Street.

Children from the school went to the store on Friday, June 5 with head of the learning resource centre Christine Brayshaw to be presented with the vouchers for the school by WHSmith staff Colin Gourley.

As part of the giveaway WHSmith stores will be donating vouchers to more than 160 schools around the country, giving the schools an opportunity to boost their library and teaching resources for the new school year.

The WHSmith Trust has two main aims - to support the local community in which WHSmith staff and customers live and work; and to support education and lifelong learning.
