A MAN is recovering in hospital after being beaten unconscious in a late night attack.
The 31-year-old was attacked on Northallerton High Street at about 10.30pm last Friday, May 15.
During the assault near the offices of Hunt and Wrigley solicitors he was punched and knocked to the ground where he became unconscious.
He was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough by ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.
A 49-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident. He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on conditional bail.
Officers are now appealing for help from the public in piecing together the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
