STUNNING images of life in the county town of North Yorkshire will be vying for honours this weekend.

Acclaimed photographer Joe Cornish opened his gallery on Zetland Street in Northallerton ten years ago and it has since become a showcase for talent.

And to mark the tenth anniversary local photographers were invited to focus on the town for a celebratory exhibition, Northallerton10.

Photographers aged from seven to 70 submitted entries and the winners will be selected at a launch party on Friday evening, February 20.

All their photographs will be displayed at the gallery as part of the exhibition alongside those of Joe Cornish himself.

“We are delighted that the local community has responded so enthusiastically,” said the gallery’s exhibition manager Jo Rose.

“The competition has really captured the imagination, with our youngest entrant just seven-years-old.

“In addition photography students from English Martyrs School and Sixth Form in Hartlepool have utilised it as a project for their studies with the best student images being submitted to the exhibition.”

The launch party gets underway at 7pm and all are welcome. The exhibition continues until March 14.
