AN accident involving seven vehicles led to delays and tailbacks on one of the region’s busiest roads.
The incident on the south-bound lane of the A1 (M) near Scotch Corner forced the Highways Agency setting up local diversions.
However the road was re-opened to traffic at around 2.30pm after the debris had been cleared.
The smash happened at around 11.37am today, December 30, and is believed to have begun when a black Vauxhall Insignia collided with the central reservation.
The impact is thought to have caused a domino effect with other vehicles involved including a red Mini, white Ford Transit, black Mercedes SLK, black VW Beetle, blue Toyota Previa and a silver Ford Mondeo.
Most suffered front or rear end damage and paramedics treated some of the occupants at the scene however all the injuries are believed to be minor.
