A MAN is due to appear in court charged with a burglary in Northallerton.
The 26-year-old was stopped by police on Northallerton High Street in the early hours of December 27.
He was allegedly driving a blue Ford Ka which had been stolen during a burglary at a property on Springwell Terrace a short time earlier.
Officers also found electrical items which had been taken from the same address in the car.
The man has been charged with burglary and theft, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without a licence, drink driving, and driving without insurance.
He is due to appear before local magistrates on January 16.
He was also arrested on suspicion of committing another burglary at a property on Phoenix Grove - during which an Audi Quattro was stolen – just after midnight on December 27.
He has been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries into the incident.
