A BOMB disposal team was called to investigate reports of an unexploded device at the Marne Barracks at Catterick in North Yorkshire today.
An Army spokesman confirmed that a team was onsite in the late afternoon and early evening to carry out investigations on the item.
It was found to be around the time of the Second World War.
The team carried out a controlled explosion and left the scene at around 6pm.
