A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a pensioner.

Helen Doherty, 78, was hit and killed by a Lexmoto motorcycle ridden on Forest Drive, Colburn in August last year.

Simon Coker, 32 of Castle Hill, Richmond, indicated not guilty pleas to causing death by due care while over prescribed limit, death by driving without due care/unfit through drugs and failing to stop after a road accident.

He indicated guilty plea to making a false statement about insurance documents.

He wil next appear at Teesside Crown Court on March 31.

Police were called to a report of a collision involving a Lexmoto motorcycle and a pedestrian at 10.45am on Saturday, August 13 last year.

Mrs Doherty was taken to James Cook University Hospital by air ambulance but she sadly died from her injuries.
