RESIDENTS in Catterick Village have been warned of an overnight closure tonight as part of the A1 upgrade.

Highways Agency will be making changes to the road layout in the Catterick Lane and Tunstall Road area and a one-way system will be introduced.

Traffic driving out of Catterick Village towards Tunstall, including Hackforth and East Appleton will be unaffected - traffic will continue to be via Catterick Lane and one way on the Tunstall Link Road.

Traffic driving from Tunstall, Hackforth and East Appleton towards Catterick Village, eastbound, will not be open to traffic, and there will be a diversion in place using the temporary connection to Catterick central junction, and returning south on the A1.

Traffic will leave the A1 at Catterick south junction at Marne Barracks.

A spokesman said: "The diversion will allow us to construct the connection onto Tunstall Bridge and will be in operation until the new bridge is open to traffic in the summer.

"It is appreciated that this diversion is an amendment to what was displayed at our public drop-in session.

"We would like to thank you for your patience during our works."
