A FOUR-year-old girl has raised £900 by having her long locks cut off to provide wigs for sick children.

Katie Harpur told her parents Sean and Suzanne that "all little girls should have hair like a princess" after seeing a young girl without hair on television.

Mr Harpur, of Catterick Garrison, said after asking what had happened to the girl's hair, Katie said she had lots, and sick girl could have some of hers.

He said: "As parents, you always want your children to be selfless and caring, but that comment somehow felt beyond her years.

"The following day we asked her again if she wanted the sick children to have her hair, and she again agreed.

"My wife looked on the internet and found the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs donated by people."

SAKS hairdressers at Scotch Corner cut the charity's required seven inches of Katie's hair before styling it.
