A HERITAGE railway is ensuring its customers will be hail and hearty – when it hosts its second real ale festival.

The Wensleydale Railway is holding the event in May to help raise funds to meet its ambition of reconnecting Aysgarth to the line.

The WensleyAle Festival will feature more than 30 real ales from both independent and micro-breweries combined with a number of live music acts and quality food.

The festival will take place at Redmire Station and a special timetable will be operated in conjunction with the event, which runs from May 27 to 30.

The chairman of the Wensleydale Railway Association Trust, Ken Monkman said: “We are delighted to be holding a second WensleyAle Festival where not only do we get to showcase a fantastic array of ales and live music, we also get to help raise funds and contribute towards help fund the re-laying of the Aysgarth line.”

During the festival trains will operate between Northallerton West and Redmire, servicing Leeming Bar, Bedale, Finghall Lane and Leyburn.

The trains will operate into the evening allowing people to take advantage of the festival without the need to drive.
