A DRIVER has suffered serious injuries after his car crashed off the A1(M) into a farm field and overturned.
North Yorkshire Police said the 47-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough after the incident at 2.15pm, near Bedale, which involved one vehicle.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "The driver suffered injuries to his arm, which are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage."
Police said it remained unclear why the green Peugeot 206, which also had an 18-year-old female passenger who was uninjured in the crash, left the road.
A lane of the northbound carriageway, from junction 50 at Baldersby, near Thirsk, to junction 51 has been closed to allow police to investigate the scene.
Witnesses should call police on 101.
