MANAGERS at Dales Care in Bedale have been bowled over after being presented with a cheque for £600 by the Ladies of Bedale Bowling Green Society and League supporters

The Society played host to the eight teams of the Darlington and District Ladies Bowling League as part of celebrations for their 80th Anniversary. Bedale Ladies chose 'Dalescare' as their charity for the year, and ladies league contestants contributed generously to the fund.

A spokeswoman said: 'Dalescare' is close to the bowling green in Wycar and is an essential voluntary organisation in the area providing a variety of valuable services for independent people who live in local communities.”

The charity works from the Dales Care day centre, offering lunches and support to elderly and vulnerable people from the town and surrounding villages. They have an open door policy where visitors can stay all day or just pop in for lunch or a cup of tea.

The cheque was presented by Elaine Plummer, Bedale Ladies Chairman, Barbara Hardy, Bedale Captain and Joyce McKay, League President for 2015.
