A RURAL retirement home has been given a silver-rated award by an elderly accommodation team.
Sycamore House, a Housing 21 extra care property in Bainbridge, North Yorkshire, was presented with the accolade by the Elderly Accommodation Council (EAC) at a ceremony in London last week.
It is the second time that Sycamore House, which provides 42 apartments for people over 55, has won a silver award from the EAC.
Court manager Michelle Mottershead said: “I’m delighted that Sycamore House has been successful yet again in the EAC awards.
“I’m proud to work with a wonderful staff team enabling us to provide a service that residents truly deserve and appreciate.”
Nominations for the awards were submitted by residents through a game of cards designed to start discussions on how satisfactory they find all aspects of the housing facility.
Sycamore is a popular hub for the local community, providing a village shop, post office and library.
The court is also used as a base by district nurses and domiciliary care workers.
