STUDENTS will be able to live the Olympic dream after being selected to help out during the 2012 games.

Risedale Sports and Community College students and another from Richmond School were chosen from thousands of hopefuls who applied.

And now they will disseminate information during the Olympic football competition staged in Newcastle.

They will work on the technology side of the event ensuring the media and sports officials have all the information they need, from July 26 to August 3, during the nine matches at the Sports Direct Arena.

The lucky students include Jonathon Craggs, 15, of Catterick Village, Daniel Barnes, 16, of Catterick Garrison, Sean Mason, 16, of Catterick Village, Ryan Harris, 15, Shannon Calvy, 16, and Ashlea Turner, 16, all of Catterick Garrison, and Elizabeth Moulding, 16, of Richmond, who attends Richmond School.

Risedale assistant principal Jon Moulding said: "They are a great bunch of students and gave an excellent presentation. It’s fantastic that they have been chosen; it’s a real boost to our school."

The students, who have links with Richmond Rugby Club, will be trained in London in July where they will learn about the Olympic ethos before receiving orientation experience at Newcastle’s ground.

"An opportunity like this can be life-changing and I know all the students are extremely excited," said Jon.

"They have just received their official lapel badges and will also get Olympic uniforms to wear during the Games."
