YOUNGSTERS are being given chance to live like Bear Grylls and Ray Mears - and learn how to fend for themselves in the great outdoors.
Bushcraft sessions are being staged during the school holidays in 8,600-acre Dalby Forest, near Pickering, for those wanting to hear the call of the wild.
Rustic events take place on August 12 and 26 for five to nine-year-olds, who will be shown how to create a den from brash and branches and get to grips with animal tracking.
Then youngsters aged 10 to 14 can join rangers on August 18 and 19 and set up camp to learn wilderness skills, from wild food foraging to safe fire lighting.
Ranger Mark Barker said: "Bushcraft is really popular and we want to make sure youngsters of all ages can enjoy a taste of life on the wild side."
Junior sessions cost £10 per child and last from 10am to 1.30pm, while the event for older children is £25 for both days - 10am to 3pm. Booking is required on 01751-472771 or at the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre.
