YOUNGSTERS are sampling the delights of activities such as fencing as the summer holidays get in full swing.

Fencing is just one of a wide range of sports and pastimes being held in the Hambleton area as part of this year’s Hyper Holidays programme.

Organised by the district council, with the support of local business Simon Bailes Peugeot, The events all take place at leisure centres across the district and offer a variety of sports, educational, coaching and artistic activities for young people aged four to sixteen.

Over 250 different activities are on offer this year including football, fashion and jewellery design, go-karting, basketball, cookery, cycling awareness, street dancing, boxing and raft-building. Trips to places such as Alton Towers have also been arranged.

Coaching is being provided by sports clubs including Middlesbrough FC, Yorkshire Cricket Club, Romanby Golf Club and Northallerton Badminton Club. The programme also offers children the opportunity to enjoy films, swimming lessons, cheerleading classes and learn more about road safety, first aid and enjoy demonstrations from the police and fire brigade.

Details of all of the activities available can be found by picking up a Hyper Holidays brochure from one of the leisure centres or downloading it from www.hambletonleisure.co.uk
