A VILLAGE famed for its floral displays in planning to celebrate Yorkshire Day by inviting people to tea.
Appleton Wiske, near Northallerton, is a five-times gold award winners in regional and national In Bloom competitions.
And it is marking Yorkshire Day - Sunday August 1 - with tea in the village hall, between 3pm and 5.30pm.
Also included is a children's painting competition and a photograph competition, featuring Yorkshire scenes, and there will be a raffle for a basket of Yorkshire produce.
Tickets are available in advance from the village post office, price £4 for adults and £2 for under-11s, or can be bought at the door.
