PEOPLE across North Yorkshire are being asked for their views about how local transport is managed and maintained and how it can be improved.

The county council is currently preparing its third Local Transport Plan which will set out the plans and strategies for maintaining and improving all aspects of the local transport system until 2016.

The draft identifies plans for improving road safety, easing congestion and promoting the benefits of sustainable modes of transport.

It also outlines the authority’s commitment to continue to contribute, where possible, to socially necessary bus services, and to initiatives that deliver community transport services and provide the infrastructure to help people who do not have a car. The draft is available to view and comment on, at northyorks.gov.uk/ltp. Comments can also be sent by email to ltp@northyorks.gov.uk or posted to: LTP Team, Business and Environmental Services, County Hall, Northallerton, DL7 8AH.

A series of 10am to 4pm public exhibitors are also being held including: Richmond Market Place, May 25; Pickering The Ropery car-park, May 27; Northallerton town hall, June 5; Harrogate War Memorial, June 22; and Scarborough St Nicholas car-park, June 24.
