GRAFFITI is not usually celebrated but a new exhibition will give a fascinating insight into the minds of prisoners incarcerated in a castle over a 150-year period.
The19th century cell block at Richmond Castle bears over 2,000 graffiti inscriptions that document the lives of those detained there spanning more than a century.
A temporary exhibition at The Station in Richmond will enable visitors to explore the cells through English Heritage’s bespoke computer-based virtual tour.
The free exhibition is the result of volunteers work and will also detail the science behind the graffiti’s conservation and the latest research findings.
It runs at The Station from March 3 to 15 and may tour venues across the region.
