THIS is the devastation caused to a home after curtains were set alight by a candle.
The picture, tweeted by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, shows how the bedroom was left blackened and burnt after a fire took hold just before 9am on Sunday morning.
It happened at what is believed to be a student house on Falsgrave Crescent in the Clifton area of York.
North Yorkshire Fire said the fire was accidental and was caused by an unattended candle left burning, which set fire to the curtains.
Two fire crews from York and Huntington were called to the scene and put out the fire using a hose reel.
