NOMINATIONS are now open for Ryedale’s first business awards, which will celebrate its large array of independent, small businesses.

There will be eight categories in the new awards, including young entrepreneur, community contribution and best start-up business.

The winners will be announced over a celebratory breakfast for nominees at the White Swan in Ampleforth on January 24.

Anna Lupton, owner of the award-winning Carr House Farm B&B near Ampleforth, and the driving force behind the awards, said: “We have so many businesses in Ryedale to be proud of, some of which go under the radar.

“This is an opportunity to get your favourite business recognised. It could be the largest business in Ryedale or the smallest thriving entrepreneurial one and I urge everyone to make a nomination.”

There are eight different categories available for the awards. They include young entrepreneur, community contribution and start-up business.

Leader of Ryedale District Council, Linda Cowling said: ''I am very pleased that Anna instigated these awards and Ryedale District Council is delighted to be closely involved.

“Ryedale has one of the highest ratio of small businesses and I don't think I would be exaggerating if I said some of the very best in the country.

“The diversity of our businesses in Ryedale is fantastic and continues to grow.

“I hope our residents will get behind these awards and start nominating their favourite businesses.”

The closing date for nominations is December 1.Visit; www.ryebas.co.uk to access the nomination form.
