A FATHER-OF-TWO is getting on his bike to raise money for the hospital ward where he was treated after developing a blood clot in his arm.

John Davison, 55, of Yarm, spent three weeks in James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, last summer.

Now, to thank the dedicated teams for the care he received, he is planning a sponsored cycle ride to raise money for the intensive care unit, Ward 6 and

radiology department.

The John Davison and Friends Cycle Ride is due to take place on Sunday, May 17, starting from Stokesley Market Place at about 10.30am.

He aims to ride for about 25 miles with a cafe stop at Roots, near East Rounton, but says cycling pals joining him are welcome to take in as much or as little of the North Yorkshire and Teesside countryside as they wish.

Mr Davison, who lives with wife Fliss and sons Joe, 19, and Freddie, 16, and is CEO of a not-for-profit social care organisation in County Durham, said: “I

am pleased to be able to support a great team at James Cook Hospital whose skills and care were outstanding.

“Sponsor money collected will be going to support the extra elements of ICU, Ward 6 and radiology which can’t be funded through the NHS.”
