A MOBILE police office is going on tour across the region to give people the chance to speak to officers in their own community.

The office will park up in the streets of Washington and Houghton, on Wearside, this week and residents are invited to pop in and speak to their local police about any issues they may have.

Inspector Vicky Quinn said: “We’re really keen to engage with our communities and let people know what we’re doing in the area to make it safer as well as hear what issues are affecting them so we can see what we can do about it. We already hold regular meetings with local residents but we know people are busy and don’t always have time to come along.

“Hopefully, by taking our mobile office into their street it will make it easier for them to pop in.”

On Wednesday, from 10am-2pm, it is in Sulgrave, and from 2pm-11pm in Shiney Row. The office is in Blackfell Village from 10am-2pm on Thursday and Penshaw from 3pm-8pm.

On Friday, from 3pm-1am, it is in Houghton and Concord from 4pm-1am on Saturday, then back in Shiney Row from 3pm-8pm on Sunday.
