A SLEEPOVER in Newcastle Cathedral is being held to raise money for charity.

The second annual Advent Sleepout Challenge is being held at the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas on December 2.

Together Newcastle supports a range of community projects from young people’s savings schemes to food banks and last year the event raised £2,800.

Over the course of the evening there will be opportunities to explore the cathedral ‘after hours’, and a chance to visit the castle keep.

There will also be Christmas themed music and activities, including producing a large ‘community art’ installation.

Steve Forster, development worker for Together Newcastle said: “We want people to come along and enjoy the experience of sleeping out, while raising some money which will help us continue our work in communities where day to day life can be hard, and is getting more and more difficult for many families.”
