AN exhibition aimed at inspiring young people to find out more about social justice has opened.

The Journey to Justice exhibition is on in Sunderland until Sunday, November 20.

It is focused on the US civil rights movement as well as the the hidden histories of Sunderland and the impact of activists and stories of the people who fought for justice in the city.

The project, which is aimed at inspiring people to take action for social justice, was funded by a £9,500 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Jackie Nixon, chair of the Sunderland Journey to Justice Steering Group, said: “We are thrilled to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and are confident the project will support young people to learn more about social justice and to feel part of something bigger. Through Journey to Justice, young people can be the voice of change for our future generations.”

It is on at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and between 12pm and 4pm at the weekend.
