POLICE are warning people of the dangers of taking medication that is not prescribed to them after drugs were reported missing from an ambulance.

The emergency vehicle was parked outside the accident and emergency department at Sunderland Royal Hospital and the drugs were reported missing from a bag on board just after 3.30am this morning. (Sunday, May 22)

Officers are carrying out enquiries to try and trace the medication.

They are also warning of the dangers the medication could pose.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “The pack contains a quantity of anti-diabetic medications which could be harmful if taken by anyone who has not been prescribed them.

“Anyone who finds the medication should hand it in to police straight away.”
