INVESTIGATION: Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses
A ROBBER threw a noxious substance at a shop assistant in an attempt to steal a till.
The crook failed to steal the till at the Nisa store on High Street, Wrekenton, Gateshead, and instead made off with some cigarettes.
The incident happened at about 9pm on Saturday (August 22).
The offender is described as wearing dark clothing and a balaclava, with the hood up on his jacket. Staff were not injured.
Northumbria Police are investigating and appealing for any witnesses or anyone who heard anything suspicious to call them on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 1231 of 22/08/15, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
