A BODY found in the mouth of the River Wear yesterday is believed to be a missing man who has not been seen for almost two months.
Police were called to Sunderland at 1.35pm yesterday, after volunteers from Sunderland RNLI discovered a body near the city’s harbour.
Northumbria Police said today that the body is yet to be formally identified however it is believed to be that of missing man Daniel Smith.
Mr Smith, who was 25 and from South Tyneside, had been missing since Friday, March 20.
A police spokesperson said enquiries into his death are ongoing.
