A MOTORIST has died after the car he was driving went into the River Tyne.
Police were called to Merchant Wharf in Walker, Newcastle, at 10.40am this morning. (Tuesday, May 11)
Emergency services attended and a blue Peugeot was recovered from the water.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
