Woman in her 40s killed in collision with car
A WOMAN in her 40s has been killed after she was hit by a car.
"At 7pm this evening (Wednesday, April 22) police were informed a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle in Gateshead," said a Northumbria Police spokesman.
"The collision happened on Bensham Road.
"The pedestrian, a woman thought to be in her 40s, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
"The driver, a woman in her 50s, was not injured in the collision."
Enquiries are being carried out into the collision and any witnesses should ring Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 1045 220415.
