A MAN is in hospital after being assaulted by someone it is believed he knew.
The 28-year-old man suffered a puncture wound to the neck and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is not thought his injuries are life-threatening.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
Police say they think the two men knew each other.
The incident happened at about 11pm last night (Saturday, April 18) in Belle Vue Crescent, Ashbrooke, Sunderland.
