A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has died after apparently falling from cliffs.
Teenager Joshua Smith fell to his death from cliffs at Spittal Point, near Berwick.
Emergency services including the RNLI were called to the scene shortly after 3am on Easter Sunday and the boy was recovered from the sea.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “He was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital where he later died.
"Enquires are in the early stages to establish the circumstances around the death however police believe there was no third party involvement and the death has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission in line with protocol”.
Anyone who may have seen teenage boy in area of the cliffs by Spittal point in early hours of Sunday, April 5, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191.
