EXTRA police officers were patrolling the streets of a Northumberland village tonight, after a power cut affected a number of homes.
Northumbria Police received reports that a power cable had come down in Ovington, near Corbridge, at 4.22pm.
Speaking at 9pm, a spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "A number of houses in the area are currently without power, Northern Powergrid hasbeen informed and engineers are in attendance.
"Extra officers have been deployed to the area to provide reassurance and anyone with any concerns can speak to them.
"It is hoped the problem will be fixed and power restored in the next two to four hours."
Meanwhile, a section of a Newcastle street was cordoned off this evening after the collapse of a wall.
Police received a report that a wall had collapsed in Elswick Road, at the junction with Caroline Street, at 4.08pm.
Police and fire services attended and an area of the street has been cordoned off as a precaution.
A section of Elswick Road was closed for a short time to allow for an assessment of the damage however the road is now open.
No one was injured in the incident.
