ROBBERS armed with a handgun and a cosh stole a cash box from a security driver.
The two raiders struck this morning (Wednesday, December 17) at the Morrisons supermarket in The Precinct, Blaydon, near
Gateshead.
Police were called at 8.14am after the thieves took an undisclosed sum of cash outside the store’s cash machine before driving off in a Ford Focus car.
One was armed with a handgun and the other a cosh.
No one was injured but staff were shocked.
One robber wore high visibility trousers and a woollen hat, the second was wearing a dark coloured balaclava and a light top.
Police are carrying out enquiries and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.
