A PEDESTRIAN is in a critical condition after being struck by a car as he crossed the road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Gateshead.
It took place at 7.44pm on Saturday, December 13 and involved a 40-year-old man who was struck by a car on the slip road travelling from the Redheugh Bridge towards the A184.
It is believed the pedestrian was crossing the road. He taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where he is still receiving treatment for serious injuries.
The slip road was closed for two-and-a-half hours while the scene was investigated, local diversions were put in place.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 and quote reference 1135 13/12/14.
