BURGLARS stole a brand new car after breaking into a house on South Tyneside.

Police were called to a house in Sunderland Road in East Boldon, on Friday, October 17, at 11.53pm following reports of a burglary. Offenders smashed a large window in the porch and stole car keys before stealing the dark grey coloured Skoda Octavia estate.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and theft of the car. Also anyone who has seen the vehicle being drive around or who knows where it is now.

Detective Sergeant Ed Hedley, said: "We would also advise people to make sure they don't leave car keys near the front door where they could be stolen during a burglary Police advise motorists to keep keys out of sight in a safe place."

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact them.
