THE search for the missing Matloch brothers has widened to London.

Remus, 15, Janko, 12, and David, ten, were reported missing on Monday night (August 11) when they failed to return to their Sunderland foster home after a bike ride.

CCTV footage revealed they caught a Metro train from the city to Newcastle, where they were pictured walking out of Central Station towards the Centre for Life.

Police are still searching for the Polish boys in Newcastle and in the Northumberland towns of Bedlington, where they go to school, and Blyth, where they lived before moving to Sunderland 18 months ago.

But officers are also making enquiries in Birmingham and are concentrating efforts on Edmonton in north London.

One possibility is that the brothers have gone to meet friends or relatives.

Superintendent Alan Veitch, of Northumbria Police’s Sunderland Area Command, said: "We have had a good response from the public to our appeals for information.

“We have had more than 20 calls from people who have rung in with information, which we are still following up.

"We are still appealing for members of the public to look at the photos of the missing boys and to contact us straight away if they think they have seen them or if they know where they are now.

"We are increasingly concerned for their welfare. We know when they left home they only had approximately £60 between them and the clothes they were wearing.

“We do want to stress that the boys are not in any trouble we just want to know they are safe and well.

“We need to know where they are so we can go and collect them and bring them back.

"We need any information from the public which will help us to find them as quickly as possible, please call us if you can help."

Anyone with information should call Northumbria Police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 1276 of 11/08/14.

They can also ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or pass information to the charity Missing People - call or text 116 000.
