POLICE have released CCTV footage after a man had money stolen from him while using a cashpoint machine.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday at Asda in Stanley, County Durham.

A spokesman for Durham Police said: “A gentleman was distracted at the cashpoint and his money was stolen.

“The suspect seen approaching the gentleman at the start of the video was hanging around the disabled bays for a few minutes prior to committing the offence and is believed to have been dropped off and collected by a vehicle nearby.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to any of the people who saw what happened and helped the gentleman, for instance the lady in the pink or purple top who saw the perpetrator dropping the cash and the lady who alerted staff and returned in the small car at the end.”
