A COMMUNITY theatre group is preparing for it latest production.

The Wizard of Oz is being performed at the Alun Armstrong Theatre, at Stanley Civic Hall, by members of Astravaganza Entertainment.

The story follows Kansas farm girl Dorothy and her pet dog Toto as they are swept away by a tornado and carried to the magical Land of Oz.

With the help of their new friends, the Munchkins, they begin their exciting adventure travelling to the Emerald City to find the Great Wizard hoping he will help them to get back home.

On the journey Dorothy meets up with the Scarecrow who needs a brain, the Tin Man who wants a heart and the Cowardly Lion who desperately wants some courage. But they must first face the dangers put in their way by the Wicked Witch of the West.

Astravaganza Entertainment producer Liam Glendinning said: “Come and join in the fun over the rainbow in our extravagant Christmas pantomime production of this much-loved fairy tale, which is packed with great songs, exciting dance routines, audience participation and fun for all the family.”

“There’s no place like the Alun Armstrong Theatre for family entertainment so click your heels and book tickets now.”

The show is staged from Tuesday to Saturday, November 8-12, with weekday performances at 7.15pm and on Saturday at 11am and 4pm.

Tickets are £12 for adults (£11 conc, £10 for children). Family tickets are £38 and all tickets are £10 on the Tuesday. Contact theatre on 01207-299-110 or go online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/astraents.
