A WEBSITE has been launched to help businesses in a former mining town.
Smart Stanley is a project designed to improve and increase digital activity across the area.
The new website smartstanley.org.uk will be used as a tool to support the growth of the town’s businesses, create new opportunities for residents and promote greater engagement across the town centre and surrounding villages.
Durham County Councillor Thomas Nearney, chairman of Stanley Area Action Partnership, said: “Smart Stanley is more than a website.
“It is a concept to use technology to promote what’s on in our area, boost local business, organisations and events.”
The underlying aim of Smart Stanley is to use digital technology to improve the area for residents, visitors, businesses and their customers, by promoting the local retail offer, leisure and visitor attractions, as well as bring new impetus to the Stanley Front Street market, held every Thursday and Saturday.
Phil Jackman, head of ICT at Durham County Council, said: “The website is a great way of promoting the best of what we have to offer.”
