A MAN has appeared in court accused of the attempted murder of a woman who was allegedly stabbed at the weekend.
Darren Chawner appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court this morning following an incident in Park Road, South Moor, Stanley, County Durham, in the early hours of Saturday.
The 29-year-old man was not asked to plea to a charge of attempted murder and two counts of false imprisonment.
Mr Chawner, of Park Road, South Moor, was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on September 2.
The 29-year-old victim is still in Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in a serious but stable condition.
