A MOTORCYCLIST suffered serious injuries after he lost control of his bike.
The 59-year-old rider has been detained in hospital with serious head and chest injuries after the accident near Burnhope in County Durham on Sunday lunchtime.
The accident happened at 12.30pm as the victim, from Medomsley, was heading along Holmside Lane after leaving the village of Holmside.
Police say that for some reason, the rider lost control of his Ducati bike and came off the machine, landing on the road.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he has been detained for treatment.
Durham Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.
