A POLICE community support officer was assaulted after challenging a group of about 40 youngsters in Peterlee.
The PCSO was responding to reports of youths involved in anti-social behaviour outside The Pavillion, on Helford Road, when one of the group threw an object at her.
Durham Police said the force was now in the process of reviewing body worn footage and CCTV in the area from the assault on Friday evening to identify the suspect.
A spokesperson said: "If you were the offender or part of this group I want you to come forward before we manage to identify you which is only a matter of time."
Anyone with information should call 101 or contact Inspector Blakelock directly in a private message through the Peterlee Police Facebook page.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
