THE biggest inflatable theme park in the country has been opened in the North-East.

InflataSpace is the latest brainchild of the Seaham-based Fun Shack Group, owners of the trampoline parks Jump 360, and is the first of its kind in the region.

The space-themed park lets visitors plunge down extreme rocket drop slides, bounce on giant inflatable planets and suit up in inflatable sumo wrestling rings.

It is also home to the biggest indoor Skyrider in Europe, allowing riders to ‘fly’ through the air in a climbing harness.

The park, which opened last week, creating 100 jobs, is part of a £2 million development which has transformed a large, empty warehouse in the east end of Newcastle.

The site, at Benfield Business Park, next to the Walkergate Metro station, also has a climbing centre and a Fun Shack children’s indoor play centre which will open later in March.

Craig Freeman, director at InflataSpace, said: “We’re really excited about the launch of InflataSpace, and as the first inflatable adventure park in the North East, and biggest in the UK, it’ll be a huge hit for families in the region.”
