RESCUERS abseiled down a cliff face to save a dog which had become trapped at a popular County Durham beauty spot.
The pet, a saluki, went over the edge of cliffs at Noses Point, a nature reserve near Seaham at around 5pm last night.
Seaham Coastguard, along with colleagues from Sunderland, found the dog stuck about halfway down the cliff face.
A spokesman for Seaham Coastguard said: “The teams worked together to lower two rope rescue technicians who placed the dog in our special dog rescue bag.
“The dog was recovered to the cliff top and handed over to its owner safe and well”.
