A KEEN fundraiser who is on a bus trip around the country on his pensioner’s bus pass has reached the halfway mark.
Bob Waite, 66, of Blackhall Colliery, hopes to raise £10,000 for the transplant unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
The former chimney sweep is travelling around the perimeter of England keeping as close to the coast as possible and using public buses all the way.
His stopovers so far have included Beverley, Boston, Caister on Sea, Felixstowe, South End, Margate, Brighton, Southampton and Bournemouth and he hopes to be home within two weeks.
Mr Waite has already completed two parachute jumps, 30 Boxing Day dips, a North Sea coast canoe trip and a 60-mile cycle ride.
